I finally got my position as a Software Engineer confirmed. I am now officially salary now! No more clocking in for me, not to mention the gigantic (almost double my hourly wage) pay increase! It's about time. I've been with this company almost 3 years as a software tester. I quickly got bored after about 2 years, and really wanted to be moved up to coder. I sorta expected to be moved up after I graduated, cause that seemed to be the standard procedure. But we've been in the middle of a regime change, so things were a little iffy. A couple of months ago, I had a meeting with my boss about what I wanted to do, and I told him that I wanted to be a coder, and I sorta got the runaround. Well, a couple of weeks ago, I had another meeting telling me that I would be moved up, but things weren't official yet. Well, last tuesday, I finally got the word that I was officially salary. Woooooooooo!
Me and Chris are working on a project now. It should be a good experience. We've just started on the planning phase, it's not all programming you know.
Apparently my dad is really excited about my promotion. He's been telling everyone at home about it. He's also been talking to me about the future. Starting an IRA, putting money into a 401k, buying a condo/house, all those great things.
