I did three productive things today. One at work and the other two after work.
At work, I started learning C#. For those of you who don't know, that's a programming language related to C/C++. I'm doing this because yesterday I talked to my boss about advancement opportunities because I'm not about to be a tester forever (imagine that...it's boring as hell and I've already done it for about 3 years). I went into his office and an hour and a half later, I came out with my answer: maybe. He told me that there were several things influencing his eventual decision. First, we are going through an...administration change, if you want to call it that. Which means, we don't really have a budget for new hires (even though we had like 3 people leave in the last 3-5 months...you'd think the money for their salaries would still be lying around). Second, once we do get a budget, we're not sure how much of that will go towards high, mid, or entry level jobs. Obviously I'd be entry level. So the third thing he told me was that in order to get a leg up in this whole process, I should start familiarizing myself with C/C++/C# since that's what we're using. For some reason, the Pitt CS department switched over to Java as their main programming language. I know it's new stuff, but when most everyone is still using C/C++/C#, you'd think you'd still focus on that. Anyway, so today I decided to start familiarizing myself with C# with the help of a coder there. So, he gave me a little project to start on, and that's what I did for most of the day. Tomorrow, I'll do the same thing and expand on what I did today. Technically I'm still supposed to be testing, but fuck that, it's too dull and I'd rather use my time more efficiently.
The second productive thing I did was go to my landlord's office and turn in my rent. And tell them about a couple of things that need fixing in my apartment. First off, my back porch has been torn up since about 2 weeks since I've moved in here. So I told them that it should be fixed. Secondly, my back door has about 1/2-1 inch of space off the floor. And with the cold coming on, I don't want all the wonderful warmness to disappear. It could get expensive. Also, I'm sure bugs and stuff can get through pretty easily. Thirdly, my bathroom and bedroom doors don't stay shut, so that also needs to be fixed. I hope they're prompt.
The last productive thing I did today was go to the gym. Yay! So far, I've gone once a week since I joined a month ago. It's pretty close too, like a 5 minute walk at most. I tell myself when I wake up that I'll go to the gym, but I end up being too tired when I get home from work a lot of the time. Cue my sister calling me lazy.

You're lazy.
I'm going on a bike ride today and tomorrow so there!
Willpower is the key. The hard part is getting to the gym. Once you're there it's easy.
But I'm proud of you for talking to your boss and trying to get ahead. Plus what's youre excuse on the weekends? I KNOW you're not working all day.
Actually, on Saturdays I do work all day pretty often. Last weekend I worked 14 hours on Saturday and I'm probably going to the same thing this Saturday too. So there :P
what about sunday?
